FAW Hongqi Prosperity Factory Welding Workshop


The FAW Hongqi Prosperity Factory's welding workshop is fully contracted by the Ninth Mechanical Institute. It has a production rhythm of 60 JPH and covers an area of 80,000 square meters. The project started in 2020 and was completed and put into production in 2021. The welding workshop consists of 15 production lines, including the lower line, main welding line, left and right side inner and outer panel lines, door line, adjustment line, etc. All production lines can achieve the production of 4+N types of vehicles. The workshop is equipped with 628 robots, widely used in processes such as spot welding, gluing, edge rolling, laser welding, and arc welding, with an automation rate of welding points reaching 100%. AGV, Buffer, EMS, WBS, and other transmission equipment are used within the line to fully realize automation of internal transportation.
This project is the first to apply adaptive production chains on mass production lines. Outside the line, a three-dimensional storage system for multi-model fixtures is used in conjunction with intelligent AGV transportation to facilitate convenient introduction and switching of fixtures both inside and outside the line. Additionally, high-flexibility equipment such as NC is applied within the line to achieve flexible production without restrictions on vehicle models or platforms. The project employs advanced processes such as laser brazing and cold metal transfer welding to effectively ensure the quality of body connections and appearance. The central control system implements digital technologies such as predictive maintenance, energy management, and parameter integration to effectively visualize process parameters, automate error-proofing in processes, and enhance transparency in factory operations.
The completion of the project helps FAW Hongqi's product manufacturing level reach an industry-leading standard. The overall solution for an intelligent welding workshop that encompasses all elements such as production automation, equipment flexibility, digital management, and information visualization has been recognized by peers and has become an industry benchmark.
