The MMI PLANNING & ENGINEERING INSTITUTE IX Co., Ltd. (referred to as "MMI INSTITUTE IX") was established in 1958 and is a first-class design research institute directly under the former Ministry of Industry, specializing in the planning, design, and construction of automobile factories. The company is headquartered in Changchun and currently has three branches in Tianjin, Shanghai, and Wuhan, as well as a wholly-owned subsidiary in Changchun (Jilin Province Landi Automation Engineering Co., Ltd., referred to as "Landi Company").
Since its establishment, the company has been committed to providing overall solutions for automobile manufacturing engineering to users in the automotive industry. Relying on the company's capabilities in overall plant design, planning, and general contracting, it mainly provides intelligent factory EPC, comprehensive solutions for intelligent equipment, consulting design services, and other businesses to users in the automotive industry. During the national "First Five-Year" to "Sixth Five-Year" plans, it successively completed the planning, design, and renovation of major national automobile industrial bases such as First Automobile Manufacturing Plant, Second Automobile Manufacturing Plant, Beijing Automobile Plant, Nanjing Automobile Plant, and Jinan Automobile Plant, pioneering the engineering of China's automobile industry. It has also trained a large number of high-end technical talents for units such as Dongfeng Design Institute, Shenzhen Design Institute, Tianjin Automotive Technology Center, Jinan Heavy Truck Group, and Nanjing Leap Group, earning the title of "Cradle of Automobile Factory Design in China."
Over the years, the company has adhered to a market-oriented approach and innovation-driven development, continuously promoting business transformation and upgrading. It is committed to providing customers with full-process technical services in scientific research, engineering consulting design, project management, and general contracting. The company has independently developed core technology products such as intelligent flipping conveyors for pre-treatment coating, U-shaped swing arm conveyors, dry spray booths, direct drying ovens, wax filling lines, VOCS treatment devices, automated assembly systems for chassis in final assembly, intelligent detection systems, flexible conveyor systems, intelligent logistics integration systems, and digital vehicles. It has formed an overall solution for intelligent coating and final assembly workshops and has obtained 23 national authorized patents.1 item of which includes 10 invention patents.11 utility model patent.302 design patents and 5 software copyrights.The company has successively provided general contracting services for total production line engineering to clients such as FAW Hongqi, FAW Jiefang, FAW Bestune, FAW-Volkswagen, Geely Automobile, Chery Automobile, Tesla, and SAIC Volkswagen.
The MMI INSTITUTE IX is a national high-tech enterprise, a national industrial design center, and a national supplier of intelligent manufacturing system solutions. The Mechanical Ninth Institute currently has about 900 employees. Among them are 4 national-level design masters, 4 provincial-level design masters, 1 provincial-level young design master, 13 experts enjoying special allowances from the State Council, 15 experts in machinery industry/automobile engineering fields, 2 experts with Jilin Provincial Government allowances, 5 top innovative talents in Jilin Province, 2 experts with outstanding contributions in Changchun City; those with senior titles account for 30%, with a total of 520 registered personnel across various categories.
