Cavity wax injection technology is a specialized technique for anti-corrosion treatment of specific areas such as the gaps in the body chassis and threaded connections. High-temperature liquid wax is injected into the preheated cavities of the vehicle body, with excess wax draining out. After the vehicle body cools, a thin, uniform, continuous, and dense solid wax film forms on the surface of the inner cavity. A vehicle body treated with cavity wax injection can ensure 'no rust for three years, no perforation for twelve years.'

The cavity wax injection line consists of a heating and ventilation system, a conveying system, a waxing fixture system, and an electrical control system. Through technological research and development, the Ninth Institute has fully realized the autonomy of cavity wax injection technology and the localization of products, breaking the monopoly of foreign companies in this technical field. Cavity wax injection technology has been successfully applied in projects at FAW-Volkswagen factories in Changchun, Chengdu, Foshan, Qingdao, Tianjin, as well as SAIC Volkswagen factories in Shanghai, Yizheng, Changsha, Ningbo, Nanjing, Xinjiang, and other projects including Volkswagen Anhui and Audi's new energy factory.

Currently, the Ninth Institute of Machinery is the only supplier in China capable of providing a complete set of automotive wax injection line technology and is actively expanding into overseas related projects. The comprehensive technical strength of the Ninth Institute's wax injection line is at an internationally leading level. In 2023, the Ninth Institute's 'Development and Application of New Cavity Wax Injection Technology for Automotive Coating Lines' won the first prize for technological advancement in the machinery industry.
