[Ma Chuanhao reports] Recently, good news came from the "BorgWarner Automotive Components (Jiangsu) Co., Ltd. Phase I Construction Project" completed by the Ninth Institute: this project has won the Gold Award for Green Energy and Environmental Design in the United States. The Green Energy and Environmental Design certification is initiated by the U.S. Green Building Council and is currently regarded as the most comprehensive and influential evaluation standard in various building environmental assessments, green building assessments, and building sustainability assessment standards worldwide. Achieving such a gold award can be said to be rare in the current construction projects of the automotive industry in China. On March 16, Liu Songping, president of the Ninth Institute, sent congratulations to the project team on behalf of all employees, thanking them for their careful planning and in-depth design to meet the gold award standards, and hoping that the project team will take this opportunity to summarize their experience in green building design to form replicable results for other projects to reference.
The BorgWarner Taicang project is a key project of BorgWarner (China) Investment Co., Ltd. in 2013 and is also a multi-party cooperation project between the Ninth Institute and international foreign-funded companies, engineering management companies, and architectural decoration design companies. After multiple rounds of design bidding, the Ninth Institute successfully won the bid with a technical solution advantage over competitors from other industries.
This project is a new factory in Taicang with an annual production capacity of 1.05 million sets of turbocharger assemblies, covering an area of 50,000 square meters with a building area of 15,871 square meters, including joint workshops, office buildings, canteens, power stations, production auxiliary rooms, oil depots, and other facilities. The design work for the project started in December 2012 and all construction items were completed by May 2013, providing users with construction use without major modifications; all construction drawings basically remained at version B, and user feedback was very satisfactory. On June 30, 2014, the project acceptance was completed, and the Taicang factory officially began production. The project adopted several advanced technologies such as rainwater collection and utilization, solar energy collection and utilization, light guide lighting, and industrial waste heat recovery. By integrating LEED certification system requirements throughout the entire design cycle, it ensured that from the design stage it met users' green factory construction requirements. Through extensive technical solution verification work, it achieved the final certification goal and exceeded the owner's original expectations to win the gold award. The award for this project was achieved under the guidance of institute leaders and various functional departments through the unremitting efforts of the management and design teams. They conducted thorough preliminary understanding and in-depth technical planning regarding technical risks, optimization of planning schemes, organization arrangements for construction drawing design, and optimization selection of construction technical solutions while meticulously organizing implementation. BorgWarner highly recognizes the technical quality and work spirit of the Ninth Institute team and has included it in BorgWarner's supplier directory as a quality supplier for design projects. In December 2014, during the design bidding for BorgWarner (Ningbo) emission system new factory project, the Ninth Institute won without competition, maintaining new cooperation with BorgWarner on projects.
The acquisition of this Gold Award for Green Energy and Environmental Design in the United States marks a first in the design history of the Ninth Institute and signifies that the Ninth Institute has reached a new level in green factory design.
