Recently, the single-line 40JPH/three-line 120JPH wax injection line project undertaken by the Ninth Institute for SAIC Volkswagen's Anting MEB factory has successfully completed final acceptance.
Cavity wax injection technology is a unique core technology of the Ninth Institute.
The Ninth Institute has successively undertaken dozens of new wax injection line projects and hundreds of wax injection-related transformation projects for FAW-Volkswagen and SAIC Volkswagen. The wax injection line at SAIC Volkswagen's MEB factory is currently the largest wax injection line in China. The project team from the Ninth Institute adopted multiple new technologies in this project, and the completion and commissioning of this production line provide strong support for the domestic production process of SAIC Volkswagen's MEB new energy vehicles.
Mixed production of multi-brand and multi-platform models
This project achieved mixed production of 12 models across three platforms: MQB, MEB, and MLB for both Volkswagen and Audi brands. Different models can be produced in a mixed manner on three production lines according to production needs, greatly improving line utilization while significantly reducing the risk of capacity loss due to equipment failures.

Efficient and stable production capacity
The project is designed with a single-line capacity of 40JPH, and with three lines operational, the capacity can reach 120JPH. Under extreme conditions, a single line can achieve a capacity of 55JPH, and different capacity states can be switched through electric control operations. The efficient and stable production capacity lays an important foundation for SAIC Volkswagen to quickly reach production targets and capture market share.
Intelligent connection to different assembly workshop transportation modes
The project's equipment outlets correspond to the MEB assembly workshop and MQB assembly workshop respectively. Different assembly workshops use a dual-layer transportation mode for sliding onto the line, achieving docking through ground scissors lift platforms, saving transportation space, greatly improving transportation efficiency, while ensuring the safe and reliable operation of equipment.

Application of flexible wax injection fixtures
The wax injection fixtures in this project are designed with fully autonomous three-dimensional forward design. The complexity of the fixture equipment is high, with a total of 54 high-temperature resistant cylinders used in the complete set of equipment. The fixture states are adjusted according to different models to achieve flexible production of various models. The pneumatic control system uses high-power integrated valve island bus control, achieving seamless integration with the digital central control system; different frequency wax injection pumps and nozzles are used to ensure complete and uniform wax film in the cavity.

Efficient circulating air heating and filtering system
The preheating system in this project uses natural gas direct combustion heating for circulating air, which is energy-saving and efficient. The circulating air in the wax injection system is heated by hot water and sent from the top of the chamber; exhaust is discharged around the wax injection tank along the vehicle body, forming an upward airflow to avoid heat vaporization and wax mist pollution. The wax injection system employs multi-stage filtration, using metal wire mesh primary filtration + X-cyclone filter + bag filter, achieving a filtration efficiency of over 97%, preventing wax mist from contaminating the vehicle body while reducing harmful emissions, making it more energy-efficient and environmentally friendly.
Application of three-dimensional digitalization and virtual simulation technology
This project uses three-dimensional software for design to ensure equipment intuitiveness, and simulates equipment operation through simulation software to meet HLS standards for three-dimensional design, supporting SAIC Volkswagen's construction of a digitalized and intelligent factory.
