It is located on the west side of Hongqi Square on Dongfeng Street, adjacent to Changchun International Automobile Park, covering an area of 140,000 square meters and divided into two phases of construction. The project has high user requirements, needing to maximize user functional needs while considering the overall integrity of phased construction and reflecting the cultural connotation of FAW-Volkswagen.
To ensure the success of the concept design bidding for this project, Liu Songping, the president of the Ninth Institute, and Vice President Yang Yumin worked with the project team to simulate potential questions users might raise during the bidding process from the user's perspective and carefully analyze corresponding solutions. Song Zhiyong, the director of the Construction Engineering Institute, organized multiple project planning meetings to objectively analyze the design difficulties that needed attention in this project, laying a foundation for in-depth project design.
During the concept design bidding process, Zhu Shi, assistant director of the architectural department, led a young team with an average age of only 34 years. They meticulously analyzed and evaluated a user design task book that spanned up to 20 pages word by word. All members continuously engaged in brainstorming sessions to gather ideas. Over four months, dozens of versions of the design proposal were improved. Each team member averaged working overtime past 10 PM; team leader Zhu Shi patiently understood user needs and repeatedly adjusted planning proposals; Jiang Nianfa lived in the office for several days during the 3D image rendering process; Li Keyan often worked late into the night reviewing drawings; Lei Guangyuan, Ma Chao, and Jiang Wei sifted through numerous books and domestic and international websites to select up to seven or eight hundred reference images for study; new employee Zhang Tingting joined the team early and returned late without complaints while also working hard to communicate with parents about their thoughts. Thanks to the concerted efforts of the project team, the Ninth Institute's design proposal not only met user needs but also made full use of the surrounding automobile-themed park by integrating views organically between the office building and landscape while showcasing unique styles in facade connotation display and logistics planning.
Song Zhiyong, director of the Ninth Institute's Construction Engineering Division, pointed out that the successful bid for this project is a testament to the unity and determination of the 7-member construction project team in facing strong competitors. It showcases a new generation of architects from the Ninth Institute and significantly boosts morale among division employees. It also affirms the Construction Engineering Institute's exploration in civil architecture design, opens up new markets, and provides favorable conditions for future high-quality industrial projects.
