Working together to ensure progress and quality - A record of the renovation project for the dangerous building reinforcement of Building 2 at the FAW Conference Center.
The renovation project for the dangerous building reinforcement of Building 2 at the FAW Conference Center started on July 5, 2021, and is expected to be completed by the end of September. Leaders from the group and the Ninth Institute have attached great importance to this project, visiting the site multiple times for encouragement and guidance. The construction unit, supervision unit, Ninth Institute, and construction unit have worked together to ensure that both progress and quality meet standards.
Building 2 was completed in 1985 and is a three-story brick-concrete structure with an original building area of 1919.38 square meters, mainly used for accommodation, dining, and meetings. In 2003, it underwent renovations (including expansion, partial reinforcement, overall interior decoration, fire protection, heating and ventilation, strong and weak electricity, etc.), after which it became a four-story brick-concrete and frame structure with a building area of 3472.63 square meters. This time, the building will be reinforced and renovated, increasing the building area to 3973.53 square meters.

The large dining area is scheduled to be handed over for use on October 30, 2021, while the remaining areas are planned to be completed by November 15, 2021. The project has a tight schedule and heavy tasks, and since Building 2 is a dangerous building reinforcement project, there have been many unexpected issues during actual construction that do not match the original drawings. The on-site team has maintained close communication with the designers to resolve issues as quickly as possible on the same day they arise. During construction, many problems were quickly resolved, such as relocating foundations due to pipelines buried under the awning foundation, discovering that the original building's rubble foundation in the elevator shaft needed to be broken up due to excessive footings, extending and widening the west side beam of the revolving door opening to meet fire safety requirements, and relocating pipelines around the fire water tank and pump room. These efforts have effectively ensured project progress and quality.
With more than half of the renovation period completed, tasks are becoming increasingly difficult. In future construction processes, the project team will continue to promote a spirit of unity and cooperation to ensure progress and quality that satisfies all parties involved!
