On December 15, the J7 intelligent assembly line project of FAW Jiefang, a key project in Jilin Province contracted by the Ninth Institute, achieved warm enclosure 15 days ahead of schedule. This laid a solid foundation for ensuring heating inside the building and normal construction during winter, holding significant importance for the project construction. At 9:30 AM on the 15th, Yang Yumin, Deputy General Manager of the Ninth Institute, Assistant General Manager Shi Fu, Dean of the Architectural Engineering Institute Wang Yige, along with leaders from the Automotive Development Zone and Jiefang Company, all members of the Ninth Institute project team, and heads of various subcontracting units attended the warm enclosure ceremony and took a group photo in the workshop to commemorate this exciting milestone.

Setting benchmarks at the source of design
The J7 workshop includes painting, assembly production lines, and logistics areas. The equipment layout is complex and compact with a wide variety of dense pipelines. As a benchmark project for FAW Jiefang, the client's pursuit of aesthetics and details has reached its peak. The design team of the Ninth Institute took the lead in adopting REVIT three-dimensional forward design and used Navisworks to compile three-dimensional models, playing a role in problem anticipation, site restoration, and construction guidance. They also simulated the visitor route in the walking passageway in three dimensions, striving for perfection to restore the viewing perspective, ensuring that everything in sight is a masterpiece. Although this increased design depth and precision, it still ensured that the design did not delay and was flawless in quality.

Lean management leads to success
Since breaking ground on June 5 with the first shovel of earth moved, members of the Ninth Institute project team led by Project Manager Zhang Qiming and Site Managers Zhang Hong and Li Zhongda have worked together diligently, each fulfilling their roles. They deeply analyzed design drawings, technical requirements, and other materials to reasonably formulate construction plans, strictly control quality systems, strengthen management without leaving any blind spots, and resolutely implement all commitments. Aerial photography technology was used to assist in coordinating site conditions and maximize reasonable arrangement of construction processes. Daily and weekly self-inspections on quality, progress, and safety were maintained, ensuring zero accidents on site while allowing 12 subcontracting units to work simultaneously in an orderly manner. In facing challenges from three typhoons 'Bavi', 'Maysak', and 'Haishen', as well as freezing rain in November, the project team remained undaunted and prepared ahead of time; they resumed work immediately after rain stopped and cleared snow as it fell, overcoming various difficulties to ultimately achieve warm enclosure ahead of schedule.
Innovative general contracting model
Combining design with construction is the greatest advantage of the Ninth Institute as an EPC contractor. To pursue excellence, under strong support from institute leadership, designers from various specialties also participated in on-site management of the J7 project. Integrated management of design and construction not only allows for immediate optimization of design plans based on construction conditions but also opens up ideas for construction management, improves efficiency, and reduces costs. The management team's timely summary of on-site issues, deep understanding of construction processes, and continuous exploration of management methods are invaluable firsthand materials for improving design levels. They are also precious assets on the path forward for general contracting and serve as a cornerstone for the Ninth Institute to become an internationally first-class and domestically leading automotive engineering service provider.

All past experiences are merely prologues; stay true to our original intention and continue moving forward! The Ninth Institute Jiefang J7 project team will continue to forge ahead to ensure smooth installation of equipment and focus on achieving the completion milestone by October 30, 2021!
