The sky is high and the clouds are light, and the autumn wind brings joy. Recently, the total assembly transformation project of FAW-Volkswagen's second plant, which was contracted by the Ninth Institute and created a speed miracle of '58 days', has successfully completed its final acceptance and achieved its project goals. In 2019, FAW-Volkswagen's second plant carried out the largest-scale technological transformation in its history, involving numerous interfaces, high difficulty, tight schedules, and high safety and quality requirements, all of which were unprecedented for FAW-Volkswagen. As the general contractor, the Ninth Institute undertook the total assembly workshop transformation project. The production rhythm of this project is 60 JPH, including the first interior line, second interior line, door line, instrument line, and PBS line, with a complete overhaul of the layout of each line. More than 350 sets of equipment including the sliding board line were completely dismantled and relocated to new positions. The door line was dismantled and rebuilt over a length of 1800 meters. The instrument line was dismantled and rebuilt over a length of 460 meters; more than 100 sets of equipment from the PBS line were dismantled, with over 130 new sets added. More than 2000 tons of steel structures were dismantled, and over 1600 tons of steel structures were installed.

In the early stages of the project, the project manager collaborated with technical personnel to gain an in-depth understanding of customer needs and strictly followed FAW-Volkswagen's relevant standards for design, first article manufacturing confirmation, batch quality inspection, and virtual debugging of electrical control systems to ensure that everything was flawless before leaving the factory, effectively guaranteeing that the quality of the equipment met standards. During the planning phase of the implementation scheme, the project team creatively completed the transfer of the sliding board line in mid-air based on actual conditions regarding construction time and site space, placing the door dismantling station on the PBS line in mid-air to reduce a large amount of equipment investment and save over 500 square meters of civil construction work. The sliding board line underwent virtual debugging, shortening debugging time by nearly one month. The door line was kept as much as possible in its original layout to reuse materials; door lifting tools were retained in mid-air to reduce workload. The wooden boards for the sliding board line were domestically sourced to save costs and delivery time.

Company leaders, institute leaders, and teams conducted multiple reviews. The company's general manager personally participated in reviews on June 4 and July 19, 2019, making deployments regarding resource allocation and condition guarantees to fully ensure subsequent implementation. High-level leaders from customers and suppliers were also organized to participate in construction scheme and plan communication meetings to ensure smooth information flow and coordinated efforts. On August 9, 2019, construction commenced as scheduled, initiating a tense and arduous construction process. The entire transformation construction took only 58 days: one day for power shutdown and preparation for dismantling existing equipment; seven days for dismantling existing equipment; twenty-two days for civil construction; fourteen days for mechanical equipment installation; fourteen days for electrical control equipment installation and debugging; after which the production line was officially put into production use. "Only through difficulties can courage be more evident; only through steadfast action can it be more precious," recalled a member of the project team about the year-long project journey. During the equipment dismantling and steel structure installation phase, the Ninth Institute project team worked until 11 PM every day; during mechanical-electrical joint debugging phases, team members persisted until 2 AM every day; during the most intense 14 days of project construction, team members worked until 5 or 6 AM every day! And they returned to work fully energized the next day! It was this relentless battle through night after night that allowed the project team to overcome obstacles and achieve milestone after milestone. On October 7, 2019, SOP was achieved, and equipment was officially put into production use. A month later, production ramped up to reach a daily output of 1001 units. Equipment handover occurred in January 2020. Final acceptance of equipment was completed on August 11, 2020.

The transformation implementation took only 58 days; from equipment arrival to final acceptance took just one year, creating dual speed records and setting a benchmark for transformation projects. It perfectly illustrates the Ninth Institute team's ability to tackle tough challenges and their collaborative efficiency with customer teams and supplier teams. This is a monument on the road of cooperation between the Ninth Institute and FAW-Volkswagen Company—a miracle that makes everyone at the Ninth Institute proud. It will surely carry this glory forward as they continue to strive for excellence in promoting development for both the Ninth Institute's growth and their customers' thriving businesses while contributing all their strength!
