The FAW-Volkswagen Chengdu BC316 welding automation project (Chengdu EBO) has achieved phased results. Through partial modifications, on August 10, the on-site engineering fully commenced ahead of schedule while ensuring the restoration of production on site.
This project is a turnkey project mainly used for the automatic transportation and storage of car bodies between process lines, with a capacity of 60 JPH. The cycle time of the automatic production line is 51 seconds, with a total of 1418 sets of equipment, including mechanized transportation equipment and electrical debugging work. The ongoing NCS corridor modification is preliminary work for this project. The challenge of this project lies in the exceptionally tight timeline; when it was first received, internal professionals judged it to be almost an impossible task.
Since the project was confirmed in early July, company leaders have attached great importance to it. The operations and production department actively organized planning even before the contract was finalized. The equipment engineering institute responded quickly, and the procurement department fully cooperated. The project team strictly followed the company's management processes, quickly invested, took initiative, collaborated effectively, and optimized resources. In just over twenty days, while perfecting the design, they efficiently completed procurement work to meet the owner's requirement for formal construction to begin on July 29. During this period, project team members conducted multiple on-site inspections and communicated fully with relevant personnel from FAW-Volkswagen's planning department to continuously optimize construction plans and meticulously plan, creating good preliminary preparation conditions for the site. On August 10, the interface modification between the new workshop and the NCS workshop corridor was completed. After the summer break, NCS models smoothly resumed normal production and received full recognition and praise from Volkswagen's planning department and workshop personnel.
On August 9, the first batch of roller beds produced by the pilot plant arrived on site, ensuring that the installation of mechanized equipment officially commenced on August 10, five days ahead of schedule, creating conditions for the electrical profession to enter construction as planned in early September.
In future work, the project team will work even harder, closely monitor the preparation of construction materials, maintain good communication with users and all levels of the company, continuously strengthen construction management, prioritize safety, focus on quality management, and ensure that the project is delivered on time to achieve the goal of full automatic operation by the end of December.
