On September 23, the deep planning scheme for the Li Group's automobile manufacturing plant project in Ogun State, Nigeria, delivered on schedule by the Ninth Institute, received high recognition from users after two rounds of reviews. The Ninth Institute successfully undertook the design work for this project, and the project team has already started the construction drawing design ahead of schedule.
In March of this year, through the introduction of the group's import and export company, the Ninth Institute learned about the Hong Kong Li Group's intention to build a truck factory in Nigeria. The Li Group is a partner of FAW Import and Export Company in Nigeria, representing the sales of FAW Jiefang heavy-duty truck products in Nigeria. The Li Group has up to 179 factories in China, Africa, and other regions, including more than 40 factories in Nigeria across industries such as slippers, plastics, and bread. It is one of the four major Chinese enterprises in Africa and is known as the 'King of Slippers' in Africa. Nigeria is currently Africa's largest economy and also the largest export market for China's heavy-duty trucks in Africa. FAW Group and Li Group deepened their cooperation on January 19, 2016, establishing an assembly workshop and a brand new 4S store in Lagos, Nigeria. To further expand the scale of cooperation, Li Group plans to establish a production base with an annual output of 3,500 heavy-duty trucks in the OGIJO Industrial Park in Ogun State, with plans to complete phase one of the project by 2019.
After learning about the project information, the Ninth Institute actively followed up and quickly organized three major branches to form a project team mainly composed of South African project personnel. They gathered information about users, projects, and construction sites from multiple sources to fully understand the project's workload and design difficulties while identifying potential risks. This cooperation imposed many strict conditions and penalties on design progress and quality. To achieve contract goals, the Ninth Institute organized the project team to promptly develop a detailed planning scheme design, arranged site visits and exchanges. During the site visit, the project team overcame time zone differences and living conditions challenges, making full use of their time to conduct thorough research and discussions on project prerequisites, local construction experience, owner-specific needs, and design schemes while improving the planning scheme. Due to significant discrepancies found between the topographic map provided by the owner and actual conditions on-site, team members collaborated with users to conduct on-site measurements and redesigned the overall plan based on re-measured boundaries, ensuring that survey results were refined.
Upon returning from the site visit, they immediately began designing the planning scheme. Due to tight timelines for the planning scheme and deep user requirements, project team members strictly adhered to design plans and closely coordinated to ensure completion of planning scheme design within scheduled timeframes. From August 23 to September 23, they underwent multiple reviews from users across different specialties and levels and submitted a complete set of planning schemes (including scheme descriptions, implementation plan depth drawings, equipment detail lists, investment estimates, and scheme booklets) to users on September 23.
This project represents a new breakthrough for the Ninth Institute's overseas projects. The user achieved cooperation with FAW's agent through connections made by the group's import and export company for this first complete vehicle factory project. This project is also an important component of the group's overseas business. The successful signing of this project not only enhances the Ninth Institute's overseas performance and operational indicators but also serves as an important achievement supporting the group's overseas business. The smooth implementation of this project will contribute to deepening cooperation between FAW Group and Li Group while enhancing FAW Group's product reputation in the Nigerian market.
