[Ding Wei, Li Ji / Report, Li Ji / Photography] Recently, the last piece of the grid frame for the Phase II project of FAW-Volkswagen Automotive Co., Ltd. Foshan Branch, supervised by the Ninth Institute Supervisory Company, was successfully hoisted. The installation of the 103,000 square meters roof welding ball grid took three months and was completed smoothly.
The Phase II project of FAW-Volkswagen Automotive Co., Ltd. Foshan Branch is a key project of the group during the 12th Five-Year Plan and is also the largest construction project undertaken by the Ninth Institute Supervisory Company in recent years. The Ninth Institute Supervisory Company represents the construction unit to implement comprehensive supervision over construction quality, safety, progress, and investment throughout the entire process. A supervisory team with rich experience was formed, led by Chief Supervisor Engineer Li Ji, with members Zhao Xin, Wang Minggang, Li Jiayi, Huang Wanfeng, Zhou Shengpeng, Sang Yunmeng, and Zhang Xiaohang. They entered the site in April 2015 and have completed a large amount of supervisory work including overseeing the construction of 14,741 prestressed static pressure pipe piles, acceptance inspection of 348 foundation caps and 6,142 meters of foundation beams, as well as checking the factory processing and installation of 313 factory columns. Among these tasks, supervising the installation of the grid frame was particularly challenging.
The welding workshop is a single-story large-column network steel frame structure factory. There are a total of 20,144 welding balls, 66,560 grid frame members, and 27,880 supports and hanging parts. The maximum weight of a single ball reaches 566 kilograms, with a total weight of approximately 4,950 tons for the grid frame. The length of the welds between the welding balls and round steel pipes is about 92,500 meters. The supervisory team adhered to a spirit of responsibility towards users, strictly controlled quality, actively supervised on-site welding quality inspections and flaw detection supervision for ground splicing of the grid frame, as well as inspection and acceptance for segment hoisting and issuing hoisting orders. For problematic welds, they required the construction unit to carry out repairs and re-inspections. Finally, after random testing by local government quality inspection departments, everything passed in one go. During critical time nodes for grid frame welding assembly, supervisory engineers Zhao Xin, Wang Minggang, Li Jiayi, Huang Wanfeng, Zhou Shengpeng and others worked under extreme heat and high temperatures without rest on weekends or holidays and often worked late into the night to ensure that the grid frame construction in the welding workshop was completed smoothly.
It is precisely because the supervisory team strictly adhered to the basic principles of "lawfulness, integrity, fairness, and science," diligently safeguarding the interests of the construction unit that they successfully completed their supervisory work and won user satisfaction.
