Exploring the prospects of intelligent manufacturing with Berlin, the China International Industrial Design Festival opens today.

The fourth technological revolution in human history is sweeping the world. Germany is vigorously developing Industry 4.0, the United States is initiating a wave of industrial internet transformation, and China is fully promoting 'Made in China 2025'. How can we accelerate the transition from 'manufacturing' to 'intelligent manufacturing'? The China Industrial Design Industry Conference, which opened today, and the 9th China (Shenzhen) International Industrial Festival will focus on this hot topic, collaborating with Berlin, the birthplace of European design, to explore the path of transformation from 'manufacturing' to 'intelligent manufacturing'.
This industrial design festival lasts for 5 days and is hosted by the Industrial Design Branch of the Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society, the National Industrial Design Industry Innovation Alliance, the Shenzhen Economic Trade and Information Commission, and the People's Government of Bao'an District, Shenzhen. It is jointly organized by the Bao'an District Bureau of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Shenzhen Industrial Design Industry Association, and the Bao'an Creative Design Center.
The path from 'manufacturing' to 'intelligent manufacturing'
This design festival has the theme 'Create·Share the Future', focusing on 'Made in China 2025', incorporating elements of innovation and entrepreneurship, and launching a series of international exchange activities including the China International Industrial Design Summit Forum, Shenzhen-Berlin Design Strategic Cooperation Signing, International Design Cooperation Signing, German Handmade Manufacturing Design Art Exhibition, Bao'an Industrial Design Innovation Exhibition, Global Maker Project Roadshow, Artificial Intelligence Summit Forum, and Maker Workshops.
According to reports, innovative projects from various fields such as artificial intelligence, smart hardware, robotics, 3D printing, personal digital manufacturing, and wearable devices will be showcased together. They will receive guidance and project incubation from a jury composed of angel investors and renowned maker representatives on product technology, industrial ecology, and market commercialization; in addition, AI experts from companies like Microsoft, IBM, and Intel will discuss the latest trends in AI applications and explore future innovation directions for smart hardware.
Feng Changhong, Secretary-General of the Shenzhen Industrial Design Industry Association and organizer of this design festival, believes that the deep integration of industrial design and technological innovation can not only optimize product functions, structures, forms, and packaging but also connect market demands through user research, strategy research, and brand marketing. This significantly enhances product added value, reshapes competitive advantages for traditional industries, and accelerates the comprehensive transformation of the manufacturing industry from 'manufacturing' to 'intelligent manufacturing'.
Engaging in high-level dialogue with industrial design powerhouses
This design festival will engage in high-level dialogue in the fields of design and industry with Germany, a world leader in industrial design. It is reported that the festival has invited Katrin Buchta, a consul from the German Consulate General in Guangzhou, to give a keynote speech on 'From Industry 4.0 to Manufacturing 4.0'. During the festival period, Shenzhen will also sign a design strategic cooperation agreement with Berlin to establish various cooperation channels and further promote design, business, and cultural exchanges between both parties.
It is reported that this design festival will also introduce the German Handmade Manufacturing Design Art Exhibition (a world touring exhibition), showcasing high-quality German products across various industries including design products and handicrafts. All products are handcrafted in Germany to demonstrate to citizens the valuable craftsmanship of traditional German handmade manufacturing in a globalized environment characterized by large-scale cloned production.
